Tattoo King Adam Levine has added some more ink to his roster.
The Maroon 5 frontman shared a photo to Instagram Monday featuring a big old back tattoo of a mermaid holding a skull. At the moment of the picture, Levine is actually getting a different tattoo, but the sea creature is on full display.
According to the tattoo-investigating prowess of People (and the Instagram account of Levine's wife Behati Prinsloo), the mermaid has been there since at least a week ago but did not yet exist seven weeks ago.
It was recently announced -- after months of speculation -- that Levine's "Voice" co-coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are dating. Maybe he needed the mermaid to keep him company now that he's the third wheel of the crew.
That's at least the most straight forward explanation.
