Fifteen years ago, Megyn Kelly was working as an attorney and was married to a physician. “On paper, I felt that I was succeeding,” says Kelly, who would watch Oprah reruns when she came home from working 18-hour days. But she says she was not happy or fulfilled.

One night, she says that she was watching Dr. Phil on Oprah’s show. “Dr. Phil said something that I would never forget and that would change my life forever: ‘The only difference between you and someone you envy is you settled for less,’” Kelly recalls. “It hit me like a lightning bolt. I resolved right then and there in that moment that I could settle for more.”

Kelly, who has since risen to fame as anchor of the top-rated Fox Cable News channel show The Kelly File, is now author of her newly-released memoir titled after that revelation: “Settle For More.”

“I would never have believed I would wind up this happy and doing a job that I loved this much,” Kelly tells Dr. Phil in an exclusive interview airing Tuesday. “I hope that people will read the book and feel empowered to change their lives by making different decisions and choices. I hope they think, if she can do it, I can do it too,” Kelly says. “Whatever they want in their own lives, I hope they feel empowered to try for it; at least pick up the bat and swing.”

Dr. Phil’s exclusive interview with Kelly, in which she addresses her “clashing” with now president-elect Donald Trump and allegations that she was sexually harassed by former Fox News head Roger Ailes, airs Tuesday. Check here to see where you can watch.
