The Oscar race has some fresh blood after critics got a look at two new contenders at the AFI Fest on Tuesday.

"Selma," the Oprah Winfrey-produced chronicle of Martin Luther King Jr.'s campaign for equal rights, and Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper," which stars Bradley Cooper as a Navy SEAL, both screened at the festival, and the reviews are shaking up the playing field as Academy Award predictions continue to evolve.
