Twitter Turns #StopIslam Into Forum To School Islamophobes

People are setting the record straight.

Following Tuesday's terrorist attacks in Brussels that killed more than 30 people and left about 260 people injured, people across the Internet banded together to quickly shut down hate toward Muslims.

The hashtag #StopIslam began trending on Twitter as news spread of the tragedy. And while some used it to voice their prejudices, an overwhelming amount of social media users quickly turned the trending topic into an outlet to stop any Islamophobia.

Some made it clear that Islam is not the cause of terrorism.

Others used the hashtag to remind us of what we actually need to stop.

And finally, some used it to spread love during this difficult time.

This story was updated on Wednesday to reflect revised casualty numbers.
