We have all been there before. Stuck at work with dinner reservations only half an hour away. If you don't leave in the next ten minutes you are sure to be late.

Sometimes the makeup we rock during the day just won't cut it after the sun goes down. Luckily for us there are simple tricks to turn up our look without having to start over with our makeup application. Below are a few tips I have picked up throughout the years. Try two or three of these next time you are in a hurry and be out the door in 5 minutes or less.

Pop of Color

Swap out your daytime lipstick for a brighter or bolder color. I usually use NYX Round Case Lipstick Lip Cream 521 Chloe for the brightness of the hot pink . If I am in the mood for a more vampy look I opt for NYX Round Case Lipstick Lip Cream 503 Medusa for the perfect mix of plum and burgundy.

Focus on the Outer V

Adding a darker eye shadow color on the outer V of your lid will play up your eyes. You don't need much and you don't even have to go too dark to get an added evening effect. For these quick transitions I like to use the MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyeshadow Iridescent Brown Black 139 0.08 oz.

Line Your Lids

Grab some brown or black gel eyeliner and do a quick swipe over your lash line onto your lids. Switching over to a gel liner is a very quick and effective way to go from day to night. I recommend bobbi brown long-wear gel eyeliner black ink or Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Brown(Out) 54 MINI (.37g).

Add Mascara

If you aren't already wearing any, be sure to add mascara to both your top and bottom lashes. This will open up your eyes and add some evening drama to your look. I recommend CoverGirl Lashblast Mascara, Very Black 800, 0.44 Ounce Package.

Get Those Gleaming Cheeks

Add a bit more blush in the evening hours to adjust to the darkness of the night. For extra pop, add a sweep of gold shimmer powder over your blush. This will highlight, and catch light onto the highpoints of your cheeks, giving your face a healthy glow in the evening hours. I recommend MAC Sheertone Powder Blush Gingerly for Women, 0.21 Ounce and theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer.
