An upcoming documentary 'Never Sorry', set for a 2012 release, will give viewers a behind the scenes look Ai Weiwei's revolutionary spirit.
The documentary has plenty of material to cover. In the past month we've watched Ai become the most powerful person in the art world, be demanded $2.4 million in taxes by the Chinese government and inspire an internet-based movement of Chinese supporters to raise the money.
Filmmaker Alison Klayman has been recording an academic documentary of Ai's life for the past two years. Klayman has written of her subject:
"He is one of the most forthright and honest people I have ever met. His ability to voice his opinions and criticisms for the past several years was a sign of hope for China, an indication that reforms were creating a freer, more open society."
