How To Build Your Own AK-47 Using Parts Bought Entirely Online (VIDEO)

We can't blame you for thinking you need a 3-D printer to make your own firearm. But in reality, it's much simpler than that.

Assault weapons, such as the AK-47, can actually be assembled with parts bought entirely online at so-called "build parties." Take it from Mother Jones reporter Bryan Schatz, who himself created one such AK-47, as seen in the above video.

The hardest part of the process, which is apparently completely legal, appears to be bending a flat piece of metal into what’s called the receiver, where the gun's mechanics are housed. After that and a few other maneuvers, you’ve got what’s become one of the the most popular assault weapons ever made.

And you won’t get in trouble for building one either -- at least you shouldn’t so long as it’s kept for personal use and not sold, ABC 10 News San Diego reports.

More than 100 million AK-47s and its variants have been manufactured since its creation in the 1940s, The New York Times reports.
