Alanis Morissette Album: Singer Plots Return With 'Havoc And Bright Lights' (AUDIO, VIDEO)

Alanis Morissette Is Coming Back!

[Insert "Ironic" pun here]: Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette is coming back with her first album in four years.

MTV reports the new record will be titled Havoc and Bright Lights and released in August. And though the first single, "Gaurdian," won't be hitting iTunes until May 15, Morissette fans can listen to "Magical Child," a song the singer released last week as part of Starbucks' Mother's Day compilation (the song is embedded at the bottom of this post).

In a statement, Morissette said "Havoc and Bright Lights" "is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments." MTV notes that her last album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts. Jagged Little Pill, the 1995 album that made "it's like raaaaaaaain, on your wedding day" part of the American vernacular, sold 14.7 million copies in the United States.

Morissette has stepped back into the public eye this year with a role on "Up All Night" and an appearance on "The Mortified Sessions." The singer played a hip hop artist caught in a dispute over writing credits on "Up All Night" and read her childhood poetry on the latter show.

She also made appearances on "Idol" and "X-Factor" and signed on as a mentor for contestants on "The Voice," whetting the public's appetite for more Alanis.

Listen to the new song and remember all her hits in the gallery that follows. Are you ready?
