Teacher Accused Of Using 'Spy Pen' To Film Students Undressing

Aldrin Jayson "A.J." Nicolas, a 26-year-old choir teacher at Salinas High School in Monterey County, Calif., has been arrested and put on administrative leave after a "spy pen" he reportedly used to film female students undressing in a bathroom on a class trip was found and turned in, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reports.

Nicolas was also a teacher for San Jose's Vivace Youth Group, with whom he accompanied last weekend to the Pajaro Dunes when the incident happened -- the county Sheriff's Office reports that the victims range from ages 13 to 17, according to the Sentinel.

While authorities don't believe any of the student victims were from Salinas High School, KION-TV reports that school Superintendent Jim Earhart still expressed his outrage.

"Right now my reaction is one of concern and of anger, trying to get to the bottom of what's going on," Earhart told the station. "We have had a rough year with this kind of stuff and that's the first thing on the agenda tomorrow morning."

The Salinas Californian reports that on the pen, authorities found videos of the teen girls in various stages of undressing in their hotel bathroom. The choir teacher was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of crimes stemming from possessing depictions of sexual conduct of minors, to using a concealed camera to secretly film.

He is currently being held at the Santa Cruz County Jail on $10,000 bail.
