Alejandro González Iñárritu is not impressed by Donald Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric, and he isn't afraid to say it.
Trump has been notoriously anti-immigrant during his campaigning over the last several months, claiming Mexican immigrants are rapists, and suggesting that Muslims be banned from entering the country in order to prevent terrorism.
In a recent interview with on WNYC’s Studio 360, Iñárritu, whose film "The Revenant" was nominated for several Academy Awards Thursday morning, spoke candidly about how he "pities" Trump for his perspective on immigrants.
“What I feel is a little bit [of] compassion," the Oscar-winning director said. "It’s part of the ignorance that is based on fear, and prejudice to find the otherness, to be threatened.To be so rich and to be so bitter -- it's a poor man whose only possession is money."

The filmmaker added that Trump is failing to see the "humanity" in the people he publicly condemns.
"When you generalize masses and say 'these guys are rapists' you are taking out the humanity, the integrity of a human being. And that has historically been the way horrible things have happened to humanity. Millions of people have suffered and been killed."
