Alexa Vega was just 13 years old when the Robert Rodriguez film "Spy Kids" was released. Now 24, the young actress is proving that there's life beyond kids' movies: On Wednesday, Vega tweeted a first-look photo of her scantily clad (bikini, chaps, machine gun) "Machete Kills" character.
"Hats off to Rodriguez for going there, I guess," noted a somewhat horrified Jen Yamato at Movieline, who juxtaposed the picture with a photo from Vega's "Spy Kids" days. "If you need me I'll be in the corner wrapping my brain around this madness, watching the internet explode in 'Alexa Vega Is All Grown Up, WINK WINK HEHE' headlines." Vega, who stars in the sequel alongside Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Demian Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson and Lady Gaga, plays Killjoy, a character she described as the "bodyguard of a whore house."
"I've never done anything like this," she said to THR in August. "I'd never felt comfortable enough, and I never thought this would be the project where I'd take a step forward."
