At Least 15 Killed In Yemen Crackdown

May 30 (Reuters) - At least 15 people were killed after forces loyal to Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh opened fire on protesters in the southern city of Taiz, a medical source said on Monday.

The death toll is almost certain to rise, the official said from a field hospital in the city, adding hundreds have been injured.

Police on Sunday night fired live ammunition and tear gas and used water cannon to disperse demonstrators outside a municipal building who were demanding the release of a fellow protester, witnesses said. (Reporting by Mohammed Ghobari; Editing by Jon Herskovitz)
