Despite the flak she's caught over the course of her year-long marriage to producer Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys continues to relish her life as newlywed and new mom. Keys told PEOPLE magazine last month how "fly" marriage has been for her. "There are so many similarities between us, it's just mind-blowing," she said. "It's really cool to have met my equal."
Now, the 31-year-old singer, who celebrated her one-year anniversary to Beatz on July 31, dishes to Glamour magazine on what she thinks the key to her successful relationship is. "It’s beautiful because rarely, I think, do you find a relationship where you can experience things equally," Keys told Glamour. In fact, I think that’s my favorite word and the most important word when it comes to relationships: equality." She says that's what she and Beatz have been able to find -- encouragement and excitement for each other.
The cover story, which spotlights Keys' latest project -- a film series with Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore called "Five" that shows how breast cancer affects women’s lives, families and friendships -- also touches on the moment she fell in love with Beatz. "I do remember the exact moment. If I told you, I would have to kill you, but it was something that he planned, and he planned it so beautifully and thoughtfully that in that moment I remember thinking to myself, Oh my God, I’m so in love with him," she said.
