Allen Craig Catch: Cardinals Outfielder Robs Nelson Cruz Of Home Run In World Series Game 7 (VIDEO)

WATCH: Home Run-Saving Catch By Cardinals Outfielder

The Cardinals seized control of Game 7 of the 2011 World Series in the bottom of the fifth, stretching a 3-2 lead to a 5-2 margin by way of walks, hit by pitches and an intentional walk. It wasn't pretty, but it nearly doubled the Redbirds' lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Rangers had some of the loudest bats in their order coming to the plate with hopes of having a say in the outcome of the game. After St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter induced a comebacker from Adrian Betltre, slugger Nelson Cruz strode to the dish and made a bid to pull back one of those runs that his team had just gifted the Cards.

Beltre took the first pitch from Carp, who had settled down after a rocky start to his short-rest outing. Ball. He fouled off the second offering. Strike. The third, Cruz skied to left. Allen Craig backed up, looked up. He reached the fence near the 375' mark, set his feet and jumped, stabbing his left arm skyward. The ball dropped into his glove.

Based on replays, it looks that Cruz's hit would have just cleared the fence or perhaps ticked off the top of the wall and gone over. Even if it would have bounced back into play, Craig, quite calmly, saved an extra-base hit, if not a run.
