LAKE ARROWHEAD -- Sheriff's officials said Saturday afternoon no new developments had surfaced in their search for a hiker who's been missing for several days.
Alyof Krost, 62, was reported missing Tuesday afternoon after hiking with a group of 20 people and two guides on the Pinnacle Trail at Lake Arrowhead.
Krost grew fatigued during the day hike on the main Pinnacle Trail and stopped to rest, authorities said.
The back guide stayed behind with Krost while the front guide continued to lead the rest of the group along the trail.
Krost regained enough energy to resume the hike and left the sick guide behind as he ventured along the trail to join the rest of the group, authorities said.
When the back guide collected himself and caught up with the main group he discovered that Krost never reunited with them on the trail.
Sheriff's officials were expecting 100 people to be involved with search efforts Saturday and Sunday.
Krost was last seen wearing a blue button-down shirt with a black lanyard around his neck and was wearing dark blue pants with hiking shoes. He only had one bottle of water with him.
A search-and-rescue command post was set up at the Arrowhead Fish & Game Conservation Club, which is adjacent to the Pinnacle Trailhead.
The government shutdown has not hindered the search because it is in a National Forest area, officials said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Krost is asked to contact the sheriff's Twin Peaks station at 909-336-0600 or sheriff's dispatch at 909-387-8313.
