Amazon Samsung Galaxy S3 On Sale For $99 For A 'Very Limited Time'

Cutthroat Galaxy S3 Deal Alert

South Korea's Samsung won a home court ruling in its global smartphone battle against Apple on Friday when Seoul judges said the company didn't copy the look and feel of the U.S. company's iPhone, and that Apple infringed on Samsung's wireless technology. However, in a split decision on patents, the panel also said Samsung violated Apple technology behind the bounce-back feature when scrolling on touch screens, and ordered both sides to pay limited damages. Shopping around for a new smartphone? You're in luck.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5 tomorrow at a highly-anticipated event in San Francisco (which you've probably heard about a dozen times over). But in the wake of Apple mania that's sure to ensue over the next few weeks, Amazon is offering customers a sweet deal on the competition's latest product, a new Samsung Galaxy S III for only $99.99

According to Amazon's website, the listed retail value of the S3 was originally $699.99. Most large cellphone carriers sell the device at a lower price when customers sign up for a two-year contract. The Android phone was released earlier this summer, and has since received relatively high reviews, with over 20 million devices sold globally over the last three months.

In fact, Samsung's Galaxy S III recently overthrew Apple's product in the U.S. marketplace for the first time since the iPhone 4S was released in October of 2011. According to retail data gathered by Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley, the Galaxy was ranked as the best-selling smartphone at T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon Wireless, with only AT&T selling more iPhones this past August.

But Engadget notes that you'll "have to sign up for a new individual or family activation" to grab this half-off deal, and that the sale will be available only "for a very limited" amount of time.

Are you holding out for the iPhone 5, or is the Galaxy S III offer too great of a steal to pass up? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section, or tweet us at [@HuffPostTech].
