No, sexual orientation has nothing to do with the way you dress or the toys you play with.
Some of Amber Rose’s fans don’t seem to understand that, and she was forced to give them a lesson in gender studies after they began commenting on a photo of her 3-year-old son wearing one of her wigs.
The star of VH1’s new “The Amber Rose Show” posted a photo of her 3-year-old son, Sebastian, trying on one of her long, braided wigs.
Commenters began saying the boy might be gay, and Rose didn’t take kindly to the ignorance. She used her Snapchat to address the critics.
“I posted a picture of Sebastian playing with my wig earlier and all the comments are saying that my son is gay,” Rose said. “He’s 3. So everyone that’s commenting, do me a favor, go put a wig on your boyfriend, or your daddy, or your baby’s father, and then see if they turn gay. Then let me know. Oh, they didn’t turn gay? Wow! I’m so confused because I could’ve sworn you just said wigs make men gay? I don’t know.”
She asked that people take some time to educate themselves before sharing their thoughts on the Interwebs.
“So, how about all you ignorant f*cks read a book and realize that your sexual orientation has nothing to do with the way you dress?”
Rose is absolutely right: sexual orientation and gender identity are two wholly separate things. And regardless of his penchant for his mother’s wigs, if her son does grow up to be gay, we’re pretty sure the outspoken queer rights advocate will have his back.
