Here's the thing with all this GOP Trump stuff.
Nothing in America has changed.
All that has happened is the invisible has become visible.
In other words, what was always there has simply become dimensional and tangible. Hate has a face now. A voice. It is a monster running amok who can say and do whatever the hell it wants.
And right behind him is the mob mentality mob with their burning torches, hoods and swastika tats.
This is Spring break at its very worst.
We Americans tend to have the most faith in what we cannot see.
George Carlin famously said that we are a nation that believes that a man in the sky is absolutely God but when we see a sign on a park bench that says "Wet Paint" we feel compelled to touch it.
So in other words, fantasy and make believe, well, trump education, science and facts. (It also slanders our President because of his Ivy League roots).
Who better to Pied Piper lead the gullible morons of our subculture by pretending that he is of all things a Christian based conservative just because he says he is?
This is a Paddy Chayevsky story big time folks.
This is Lonesome Rhodes (based on Arthur Godfrey: who was a notorious antisemite) of "A Face in The Crowd."
The GOP has spent the last eight years whipping up anxiety, anger and blame and now instead of producing one competent candidate they have instead thrown a stunning parade of blithering bumbling, stumbling idiots from Carson to Fiorina---whose blatant and deliberately distorted lies about Planned Parenthood probably incited the shooting in Colorado.
After all, he quoted her verbatim while pulling the trigger.
The delicious irony is that what has happened this year is that the GOP has finally become, completely by accident, the instrument of true change in this country and they achieved it simply by being who they really are publicly.
By becoming visible.
Even Fox News have become visible to the point that I can actually see the outline of Roger Aile's panties.
They can no longer be the pretend news anymore, whose less than subtle message has been racist, homophobic and as unpatriotic as you can possibly be. Even their little catch phrase "American Values" has become transparent.
And PS: Calling our president "Obama" (which has become the norm) to me is Fox News (and others) way of calling him "boy."
While Trump has obviously gone way too far with his brand of red faced, hate filled bluster (that incites the ignorant to respond like Pavolov salivating pit bulls) he has done something truly significant at his neo-Nazi youth rallies.
He has also completely blown the lid off the fake Christian pandering of the GOP whose congregation is made up of people who are desperate for the kind of one pill does it all change that will make them feel relevant and, well, visible. By wiping out their invisibility in one fell swoop, he has made Visibility sexy again. I mean hey, he has a hot wife, so it must work!
Then again we all needed and loved Tony Soprano once upon a time too.
To me Trump is Bobby Axelrod of Billions without the conscience.
Plus Bobby has an actual soul. (What I love about Billions and a lot of cable drama is how characters are not drawn in black and white. The most often used palette color for characters on cable is 50 shades of gray). Characters on non-network shows are complicated. We get to watch Slippin' Jimmy, for example, slowly morph into sinister Saul Goodman, which is like watching Ted Cruz slip into a character while pretending to be a true friend of Israel at the AIPAC convention.
Trump has taken over the GOP with the south stomping zeal of General Sherman of Union Army fame and is currently marching his way to the sea, leaving the exact same kind of pulverized ruin and carnage in his wake.
The south theoretically should respond big time to that as nothing has changed since the days of the Civil War simply because it has never ended.
A confederate flag does not have to be visible to be visible. Trust me: it is always there. We just got to see it more clearly this year too.
Like the Amazing Randy, that Archie Debunker, Trump has yanked open the curtains of America for sport in order to expose the Wizard with his pants down around his ankles which is exactly how Trump likes to win in the world of real estate.
Real Estate moguls live to destroy and rebuild in their own image. Trump is nothing more than a smug Pharaoh in a Hong Kong made suit. When he says he has ties in Mexico, take that literally, especially the next time that you knot one around your own neck. He enjoys a good throttle too.
Literature is full of characters who are hoisted on their own petard and sooner or later Atlas will most definitely shrug and the whole world will come crashing down.
He will become visible too. It's just a matter of time.
Trump is not really Hitler. He is Charlie Chaplin playing Hitler, blithely juggling his inflated globe until sooner or later wither he or it will implode.
The GOP created Trump with their not so covert style of good ol' boy racism and dogged loyalty to making sure nothing got done earning then the lowest approval rating imaginable.
Ah, but since they don't believe in abortion they have no choice but to raise him now.
Like Frankenstein, Trump is made out Republican OEM spare and utterly useless parts.
And the worst is yet to come.
Trust me, Cleveland is going to make Chicago 68' look like a day at the beach.
Blood is going to be spilled on the streets there because it is too late to stop the The Walking dead: the gap toothed idiots who prefer to pound protestors, including women, with their ham fists and metal tipped goose-stepping boots.
And as for the Republican Governor of Michigan: how Trump like has he been? Wantonly poisoning children for profit.
But be patient because good will come from all of this.
Because evil, as we well know, especially after watching all those endless blow everything up superhero movies, do not win.
And heroes, more often than not, wind up becoming flawed, bitter and powerless and, perhaps with the exception of maybe one-quarter of The Fantastic Four X-Man never invisible.
