'American Horror Story: Freakshow' Gets A Delightfully Creepy First Teaser (UPDATE)

Fan-Made 'AHS: Freakshow' Teaser Is Super Creepy

"American Horror Story: Coven" may have raked 17 nominations in the upcoming Emmys, but all eyes are on "American Horror Story: Freakshow" now, with its creepy new teaser released Sunday, July 13.

In the 20-second clip, the seemingly innocuous -- but truly ominous -- music we've come to expect from the series sounds, as white wings part on a small stage to reveal a sad blond woman. The camera then shifts to her rear, unveiling a terrifying clown character operating her bloody lever. Freakshow, indeed!

The Ryan Murphy-helmed Season 4 "will be set around a carnival sideshow in early-1950s Florida," according to Rolling Stone. "Jessica Lange will return for her fourth season on the show to play a German ex-pat who runs the sideshow."

"It was always a concept that Jessica and I talked about really early on," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly in May, adding: "I thought it was going to be light but it's turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark, which it feels much more like the 'Asylum' season. But look -- if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it's going to be dark."

Umm ... that explains the clown??

Sarah Paulson will also be making her return to the FX anthology and she even revealed her character via Twitter in June: a two-headed woman named Bette and Dot.

We're already having nightmares.

UPDATE -- According to both The Hollywood Reporter and E! News, FX has confirmed that the teaser is fan-made and no official "Freakshow" teaser has been released. This, despite the teaser appearing on FX's official YouTube channel.

UPDATE 7/15 1 p.m. -- FX has officially confirmed to HuffPost that the teaser is not their doing. "The teaser is fan-made. FX has not released any teasers from 'AHS: Freak Show,'" the statement reads.
