The First Real Clip From 'American Horror Story: Hotel' Is Nightmarish

The show returns Oct. 7.

We've seen some stylized trailers and photos for the upcoming season of "American Horror Story," but, per usual, producers have kept clips from the show under wraps.

Unless you were watching "Scream Queens" Tuesday night on Fox, that is, when the network premiered a 20-second clip of "Hotel."

Here we see Wes Bentley as detective and family man John Lowe, presumably soon after he's checked into Hotel Cortez to investigate a chain of gruesome murders. In that too-close-for-comfort way of horror flicks, the camera pans from above the bed to underneath it, where we see a strung-out Max Greenfield -- who plays Hollywood junkie Gabriel -- screaming for help.

None of the other cast -- Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Lily Rabe or Matt Bomer, among others -- shows up. But, rest assured, they're probably there, just out of view, creeping everyone out.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres on FX at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

"Scream Queens" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
