Amy Adams Wins Best Actress At The Globes

Amy Adams took home the award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy at the 71st annual Golden Globes.

Adams won the award for her role in "American Hustle," beating out Julie Delpy for "Before Midnight," Greta Gerwig for "Frances Ha," Julia Louis-Dreyfus for "Enough Said," and Meryl Streep for "August: Osage County."

Directed by David O. Russell, "American Hustle" was co-lead of the night with seven nominations, including nods for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Actor for Christian Bale, and Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Lawrence, who took home the award. This is Adams' first win at the Golden Globes. She was previously nominated for "Enchanted," "Doubt," "The Fighter" and "The Master."

At the 70th annual Golden Globes, Jennifer Lawrence won the award for Best Actress - Musical or Comedy for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook." She beat out Emily Blunt for "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen," Judi Dench for "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," Maggie Smith for "Quartet," and Meryl Streep for "Hope Springs."

Other past winners have included Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Shirley MacLaine.
