Amy Adams In Talks For 'Rock Of Ages' Film: Report

Amy Adams And Tom Cruise: On Screen Lovers?

She helped toughen up Mark Wahlberg. Now, she may melt for Tom Cruise.

Amy Adams is in talks to co-star in the film version of the Broadway show "Rock of Ages," Deadline reports. Adams, nominated for an Academy Award for her star turn as Wahlberg's tough Boston-bred girlfriend in "The Fighter," would play a reporter who goes from interviewing hair metal rock star Stacee Jaxx to sleeping with him.

It's a star studded cast already: Tom Cruise has signed on to play Jaxx, while Alec Baldwin will play Dennis Dupree, a washed up rocker and club owner. Julianne Hough will take on the leading lady role, an aspiring singer new to LA, while Mary J. Blige will also be in the film.

Previously, Anne Hathaway was offered the role Adams is up for by director Adam Shankman, but thanks to her role as Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises," she had to pass.
