Amy Robach Cuts Hair To 'Take Control' Of Breast Cancer (VIDEO)

With two of her six chemotherapy sessions now complete, Amy Robach has decided to cut her hair and take control "away from the cancer."

The "Good Morning America" co-host announced her diagnosis in November but returned to work in December shortly after undergoing a double mastectomy. Robach said she has four more chemotherapy sessions left, but that "emotionally," not physically, is where she struggles the most.

Robach told her "GMA" co-hosts that by cutting her hair, she hopes to regain a sense of power and control.

"Today, I am taking control of something I have very little control of," she said with tears in her eyes. "I am going to cut my hair very short.... I want to say that I had something to do with how I look, not the cancer."

Robach showed viewers her very emotional trip to the hair salon, where she said she spent five hours with the stylist. The host said that she hopes her decision will inspire bravery in other patients fighting against cancer, and added that the change gives her "a fresh start."

"I feel free. I feel empowered."
