Chances are that if you live in America, or really anywhere in the world, you’ve likely heard something or another about the importance of the upcoming November elections in the United States. Now, though likely many think of this coming election as simply a Presidential election of Democracy versus Donald Trump, we must also remember that there will be local and state elections happening all over the country as well. So whether you are a Republican or a Democrat is likely none of my concern, what is important is that you are aware of what day that election will be and that you’ll be ready to vote. Now if you happen to be like myself, passionate about the election but for whom the specific date of when to vote just so happens to elude you at the moment, the crew of one of television’s funniest comedies is here here to help.

The seriousness of civic responsibility and the consequences of a wrongly elected President aside, the cast of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat is here with a self-deprecating, and serious, public service announcement to remind everyone, especially the Asian-American community, to Get Out and Vote in the upcoming election on November !

While there have been plenty of PSA’s coming from the entertainment industry and celebrities, this one in particular is aimed at a slightly different demographic. It’s a call to vote, and eat, that isn’t here to endorse either candidate but stands as a reminder for individuals, especially those from Asian-American community, to get out and vote on November 8. And that means all Asian-Americans. Whether you are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Pakistani, Indian, Bengali, or really of any ethnicity, as we move forward as a community of immigrants, it is important to remember to make our voice heard and join the national and local political conversation by utilizing our vote. And as a young man who happens to be a first generation immigrant here in the United States, whose parents were given the opportunity to make something of themselves in a country that accepted and valued diversity, elections are often an important reminder of the civic duty we have to the nation that’s given us such opportunities. As the Asian-American community makes strides towards being represented more accurately and fully in the entertainment industry, so must it move in being represented by our political leaders as well.

In the meantime, if you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see it, or if like myself have been patiently awaiting the return of one of the best comedy shows on television, the third season of Fresh Off the Boat premiered this past Tuesday (From Taiwan!) and you can see it every Tuesday on ABC at 9:00 PM Eastern Standard.
