Gregory Grant is the founder and CEO behind Grant Business Solutions. Greg and his team has solutions that help businesses of all sizes advance and become more successful. This is an exclusive interview with Gregory Grant.

Jeff Shuford: What ignited the spark in you to start Grant Business Solutions?

Gregory Grant: From a very young age, I have always had a love for business. Initially, my goal was to become a business attorney. In my youth, I developed a desire to learn how companies functioned and operated. As I grew up, I begin working for retail businesses and quickly moved into management roles. Soon after, I opened my own business. Over time, I discovered that my passion was to help start and establish companies. What ignited me to start Grant Business Solutions was based on my fundamental desire to help businesses succeed. Our objective at Grant Business Solutions is to continue to be a one stop business solution for new and established companies. We currently offer business solutions for numerous for-profit and nonprofit businesses. We specialize in creating business plans, writing grant proposals, bookkeeping, taxes, payroll services, 501c3 consultation, and much more. Our motto is “If you have a business we have a solution!”

Jeff Shuford: What solutions do you currently offer at Grant Business Solutions?

Gregory Grant: We provide business solutions customized to align with an organization’s goals. There is no one size fits all solution. Every business has unique challenges and emerging opportunities.

Jeff Shuford: What challenges do companies generally face?

Gregory Grant: As the owner of One Stop Tax in Jacksonville Florida I discovered that many for-profit companies find it difficult to decide on the right business structure; and they also lack the time and expertise to conduct comprehensive industry research. Business owners can spend countless hours executing marketing research, business planning, and tax planning. The time wasted doing the planning, analysis, and business structuring takes the entrepreneur away from growing their business, that is why we launched Grant Business Solutions. General challenges for non-profit companies are setting up the 501c3 tax exemptions, researching grant funding and opportunities, developing fund-raising strategies, deploying corporate sponsorship programs, and much more. Grant Business Solutions is a one-stop business solution center that simplifies complex business processes for our clients so they can spend more time growing their business.

Jeff Shuford: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Gregory Grant: The three top skills required to be a successful entrepreneur are planning, execution, and trackability. In business, the three most necessary components to run a successful company are strategic management, tactical processes, and measurability actions. Planning is the strategic management aspect, execution is the tactical process, and trackability is the measurability actions. These three skills must be deployed successfully to accomplish tangible business success.

Jeff Shuford: As I understand you are an Army Veteran, thank you for your service. What three pieces of advice would you give to veterans and active duty service members who want to become entrepreneurs?

Gregory Grant: It was an honor serving our country. I would advise veterans and service members to utilize the same skills and tactics that we applied in the military to accomplish a mission. When I was a soldier in an armor unit, before we simulated missions, we would start with proper planning. Planning is a big part of a successful operation. A successful mission must start with a solid plan. Second, I would advise them to bring in the right people to execute tasks. After completing a mission in the Army, we would have an “after action review.” This report provided immediate feedback regarding how the training or tasks could have been done better. Consequently, we developed benchmarks to measure progress and to establish future objectives.

Jeff Shuford: Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?

Gregory Grant: In the next decade, we project to be one of the leading business resources for startup companies as well as existing organizations throughout the country. My personal goal is to innovate our services continually in our niche market and to help as many business owners as possible become successful.
