On December 31, Andrew Dice Clay will make his official return to stand-up comedy with a new one-hour special, "Indestructible," produced for Showtime.

Love him or hate him, Clay's influence on stand-up comedy is undeniable. One of the most popular stand-up comedians of the '80s and '90s, Dice displayed a brash, unapologetic style that vaulted him to enormous success, culminating in selling out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row -- a feat unmatched by any comedian before or since.

After his 1995 HBO special "Assume the Position," Clay released a few more albums of stand-up, but stayed out of the spotlight for much of the last decade.

In recent years, however, he has staged something of a comeback. After a season-long arc on "Entourage" and a guest appearance on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," it was announced that he would star in Woody Allen's next movie alongside Louis C.K., Alec Baldwin and others.

"Indestructible," which was filmed earlier this year in Chicago, will air at 10 p.m. EST on New Year's Eve.
