Andrew Garfield Backs Gay Marriage

'Spider-Man' Hunk: 'Of Course I'm In Favor Of Marriage Equality'

Who better to support same-sex marriage than Spider-Man himself?

Actor Andrew Garfield, who starred in last year's "The Amazing Spider-Man," tells The Times of London he has no qualms about backing same-sex couples' right to tie the knot.

"Of course I’m in favor of marriage equality. Same-sex couples should have the same rights as anybody else,” Garfield told the publication. “There is no argument against equality."

He then noted, "How can anyone argue against compassion and understanding?”

The 29-year-old star, who will also be seen in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" next summer, apparently made the comments at the London revival of "Beautiful Thing." Prior to his superhero phase, Garfield starred in a 2006 production of the gay-themed play.
