"It's About A Girl" is a new web series from filmmaker Andrew Jenks, charting the experience of looking for love in your twenties -- and what happens when your expectations don't quite match up to reality. A new episode will be posted here on HuffPost Women each week.
In the third chapter of Andrew Jenks' "It's About A Girl" our nameless protagonist's fantasy involves happily cavorting about town with his date. They talk animatedly over drinks in a bar, flirt while golfing, romantically bike around the city at night and even meeting each other's friends -- all with complete ease. The reality of his dating life, however, is far from effortless.
In a Q&A with the Huffington Post, Jenks reflected on how, after being in a relationship for years, he found dating to be really difficult. He said:
It is really hard to meet women. I don't know how people do it. I was talking to a good friend who has been in a great marriage for like 15 years. And he said, "8/10, Jenks. 8/10. You can’t meet a woman or be in a relationship where you get 10/10. I thought that was an interesting way to put it. Fantasy is 10/10. Reality is 8/10 -- if you’re really lucky.
