Andy Dick On 'Dancing With The Stars' Says He's Seeking Redemption For His Troubled Past (VIDEO)

Andy Dick Seeks Redemption on 'Dancing With The Stars'

Andy Dick was almost a different person during his debut on "Dancing With the Stars." The infamously troubled actor was open and honest about his past difficulties with drugs and alcohol. He said he wants to use his time on the show as an opportunity for redemption.

“My drinking and drug use got out of control, and I lost everything. It’s been a bad couple decades," Dick admitted. "I’m currently sober and working hard at it."

Dick went on to show humility, saying that he didn't deserve the tremendous opportunity that he'd been given. People Magazine found Dick to be the "biggest surprise," saying that he was charming, silly and sophisticated all at the same time. E! Online seemed surprised as well, writing that you kind of can't help but root for the guy.

For his fox trot, Dick scored just below a good chunk of his competition with a 17. Only D.L. Hughley was below him with a very low 14. This is a non-elimination week, though, so both comedians will have a chance to improve their scores.
