Andy Samberg recently announced that he's leaving "Saturday Night Live" after a seven-season run, during which he and his Lonely Island collaborators Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer became known for their viral digital shorts.
But Samberg isn't leaving the small screen altogether. At a Los Angeles press day for his upcoming film “That’s My Boy,” the comedian revealed that he’ll be joining the cast of a new BBC Three sitcom, the New York Post reports. According to the paper, Samberg will star in "Cuckoo” as "a lazy type who marries a British girl and struggles with his wife’s overprotective dad."
Samberg also has several film projects in the works. In addition to Father's Day flick "That's My Boy," which pairs him with fellow former "SNL" funnyman Adam Sandler, Samberg co-stars with "Parks and Recreation" star Rashida Jones in bittersweet rom-com "Jesse and Celeste Forever," set for release this summer.
According to Sandler, Samberg is making the right moves. "He's doing it all right," Sandler told the Hollywood Reporter. "This guy cares about being a good person first, and I love that about him. He's a hard-working fool when he wants to be, and he's really a smart, talented and great guy. I know he's going to do everything he wants to do."
