Angel Bautista-Perez Goose Folly: Police Arrest Man For Snatching Then Locking Wild Bird In SUV

Police Arrest Goose Abductor For Fowl Crime

The manager of a Christmas tree lot heeded the slogan "if you see something, say something" and contacted police when he saw noticed some suspicious activity on Chicago's Northwest Side Sunday night: a wild goose locked in the back of an SUV.

Police arrested the SUV's owner, Angel Bautista-Perez, after tracking the 29-year-old to Gordon Tech High School where he was playing in a soccer game, reports the Tribune.

Bautista-Perez told the police a strange story of where he planned to take the bird, and according to the Tribune, said the animal had been kept in his car without food or water.

Police said the Back of the Yards resident was charged with one count each of misdemeanor animal cruelty and possession of a migratory bird, reports the Sun-Times.

Reports didn't specify the species of the goose, though Chicago is heavily populated with Canada Geese, which are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
