Ann Kirkpatrick Wins Midterm Election In Arizona

Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.) defeated Arizona state House Speaker Andy Tobin (R) in the state's 1st District.

The race, which was widely considered one of the nation's most competitive congressional match-ups, was held across the swinging, sprawling rural district. Kirkpatrick lost the seat in 2010 and then won it back in 2012.

Kirkpatrick made a concerted effort to reach out to Native Americans, who make up 25 percent of the district's population. Tobin criticized the representative's support for the Affordable Care Act, while the National Republican Congressional Committee portrayed her as a pair of legs.
