Anna Wintour has publicly lent her support to marriage equality.
In a video recorded for the Human Rights Campaign's "New Yorkers for Marriage Equality" initiative, the Vogue editor-in-chief says, "As far as I'm concerned, having the right to say 'I do' is as fundamental as the right to vote. The time is now, please join me in supporting marriage equality for all New Yorkers."
HRC senior New York strategist Brian Ellner told Women's Wear Daily that Wintour "knows the difference between a passing fad and an enduring brand. Equality is part of the New York brand."
Governor Andrew Cuomo has been working on gay marriage legislation. A vote should take place before June 20.
