Anna Wintour, Harvey Weinstein To Host $35,800-A-Head Dinner For President Obama

It's hard to imagine Anna Wintour being buddy-buddy with anybody, but it seems the Vogue editor-in-chief has forged quite the friendship with President Obama.

Next Thursday, August 11, Wintour and entertainment mogul Harvey Weinstein are throwing an intimate fundraiser -- "small dinner and discussion," as the invite says -- to raise money for the Obama Victory Fund and the Democratic National Committee.

The New York Post reports that tickets to the sold-out dinner are going for a cool $71,600-a-couple, adding up to a total of $2 million in funds for the evening.

It's a sizable sum for even for Wintour, who has hosted two Obama fundraising dinners in the past. Last summer she asked for around $30,000 a head for a dinner in her Sullivan Street home (a feat which required shutting down several West Village streets).

Even earlier in June 2008, the editor co-hosted a party with Calvin Klein, Andre Leon Talley and Shelby Bryan in honor of Obama, only charging a mere $1,000 to $2,300 per ticket.

The president has taken notice of the love showered on him by Anna's fashion coterie: he returned the favor by inviting Wintour to state dinner in China back in January (to which she wore Chanel, of course).

No state event, this dinner sounds to be on a pricier yet smaller scale than the first two Wintour-hosted parties. One source told the Post that the event would be limited to "four tables" only, for the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Alicia Keys. It will be held in Weinstein and his wife Georgina Chapman's home, also in New York's West Village.

What we don't know, however, is the menu. Will Anna call in the "Cake Boss" like Isaac Mizrahi? Will the menu feature fashion's trendiest food, chicken pot pie? Or will everyone go liquid with Starbucks lattes and murky green cleanse juices?

We'll let you know as soon as we find out. In the meantime, we're going to get some pizza.
