Police Find Pot, 22 'Fighting Roosters' At Man's Home

A 54-year-old Woodstock, Ill. man was arrested after a police raid on his property turned up drugs, weapons and 22 fighting roosters.

Anthony Jayne is facing a host of criminal charges after a search of his home on the 11800 block of Lucas Road turned up 1,151 grams of cannabis, a shotgun, a small caliber rifle, drug paraphernalia, 43 cannabis sativa plants, two dead hawks, 22 fighting-equipped roosters and $88,969 in cash, according to WREX News.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department executed the search warrant with a SWAT Team and K-9 unit in tow after receiving an anonymous tip regarding possible drug- and gun-related activity, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Joe Gugle, administrative manager for the McHenry County Department of Health, told the Northwest Herald that a veterinarian concluded the roosters were likely used for fighting. McHenry County Animal Control took custody of the roosters, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police was contacted for the dead hawks.

Jayne was ordered held on $30,000 bail, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
