Anthony Weiner On Being Featured In Trump's Attack Ad: 'I'm Cool With It'

The ad targeted Hillary Clinton and took aim at Weiner in the process.

Anthony Weiner is unfazed by Donald's Trump's latest attack ad, he told HuffPost Live on Monday.

The ad, which was posted on Trump's Instagram last week, links Hillary Clinton to her husband Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby and Weiner, all of whom have faced highly publicized sexual scandals. The video closes out with a bold statement from Trump's team: "true defender of women's rights."

"I'm cool with it," Weiner told host Alyona Minkovski. "I don't really have much to say about Donald Trump's Instagram posts."

Weiner looked to the 2016 presidential election and suggested that Trump's rise in the polls would only benefit the Democrats.

"We'll see what happens. And if he's the nominee … that's a good thing for us," he said. "But [Trump] represents the Republican Party now. He's not that far out of step with everyone else. ... You can probably find mostly agreement with him on the substance."

The former New York congressman also predicted that the extreme rhetoric coming out of the GOP as of late would mean trouble for the party in the general election.

"The Republicans have outsourced their party to the wackadoo wing. Good for them," he said. "This is the continuation of the Tea Party movement that created this environment in Washington, that created the problems that Mitt Romney had and the problems that their nominee is going to have, whether it's Trump or anyone else. Those values don't represent where the American people are, so Hillary Clinton will be the next president."
