'Archer' Star H. Jon Benjamin Wouldn't Back Down From A Court Battle With ISIS

The voice actor is willing to let the judicial system decide who gets to use the ISIS acronym.

"Archer" found itself in an uncomfortable position in 2014 when the Islamic State started to gain international notoriety with its gruesome videos and brutal tactics. As it turned out, the name of Sterling Archer's super-spy employer on the show, the International Secret Intelligence Service (or ISIS), had already been coined as the acronym for the jihadist group.

H. Jon Benjamin, who voices Archer, told HuffPost Live he'd happily take on the caliphate in court, if the Islamic State chose to pursue it.

"They could sue. I would love to see that. Let's take 'em on in court, finally," he joked with host Nancy Redd.

While Benjamin might be ready for a court battle, it seems the show has already bowed out of the fight. According to "Archer" producers, the show has artfully eliminated ISIS references from the show.
