As Outkast continues their comeback tour across the country, Aretha Franklin has summoned one half of the rap duo, Andre 3000, to help wrap up her scheduled September covers album.
During an interview with Billboard, the Queen of Soul recently said that despite executive producer Clive Davis’ concerns of meeting the album’s deadline with five songs complete, she’s thrilled to have Andre on board to craft the final four tracks.
"Well, Clive is concerned, but we're on it. We are ON it," she said before adding, "I'm pretty sure it's going to be fun working with [Andre 3000], just watching his videos and things," Franklin says. "It should be fun. And, of course, they all come with great music, so I expect that."
Franklin has also called on Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Grammy Award-winning producer Daryl Simmons to assist with the album’s production, which includes renditions of Gladys Knight & the Pips' "Midnight Train to Georgia," Barbara Streisand's "People," and Donna Summer's "Last Dance."
