Arianna, along with Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson, appeared Thursday morning on CNBC's "Squawk Box" to discuss the issue of job creation.

During the segment, Arianna laid out the case that more pro-active solutions are needed from the private sector to address the unemployment crisis. "We cannot just wait idly for government to do something. Government has really failed to bring a sense of urgency to the jobs crisis. And so what can the private sector do?"

She also suggested that "changing the narrative is incredibly important" in order to start finding solutions. "The narrative at the moment has been all about the new normal, how we are not really going to be able to create jobs anytime soon." She continued, "So how can we change that into a narrative that focuses on results, that focuses on what actually is being done on the hundreds and thousands of startups all around the country, on the role of social media in helping creating jobs?"
