Ariel Winter Wants To Remind You That Girls Are Not Sexual Objects

On Thursday, "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter posted a powerful image on Instagram addressing how school dress codes shame girls and objectify their bodies.

Her caption solely consists of raised-hands emojis, but her message is loud and clear.

The message reads:

When you interrupt a girl's school day to force her to change clothes, or send her home because her shorts are too short or her bra straps are visible, you are telling her that making sure boys have a "distraction free" learning environment is more important than her education.

Instead of shaming girls for their bodies, teach boys that girls are not sexual objects.

Winter's Instagram image appears to be a black-and-white version of a photo that went viral in 2014, according to The Stir. It's a message that's just as relevant as when it got buzz the first time, considering how often we hear about schools dubiously sending female students home for visible bra straps, short skirts and other items they deem "inappropriate." Many have spoken out about these instances and others, claiming dress-code policies often place the onus on the clothes-wearer instead of those who might be "distracted" by an outfit.

This isn't the first time Winter has voiced her body-positive beliefs and shut down body shamers on social media. Most recently, she defended Kim Kardashian after the reality star shared a controversial nude selfie on Instagram.

Slow clap for Ariel Winter, our body-image warrior.
