WASHINGTON -- Arlington County Police on Friday announced the arrest of 61-year-old man apparently connected with the discovery of weapons parts and PVC pipes buried adjacent to Interstate 66 earlier this month and the subsequent search of a house in Cherrydale Thursday night that involved the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force. While a statement from police indicated a connection between the arrest of Arlington County resident Rodney Gunsauley, there is very little additional information detailing the exact nature of the relationship.
Gunsauley is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Oct. 12, ARLnow.com reported that FBI agents recovered a gun, two "weapon parts" and PVC pipes from the ground near a utility box following a tip from a Virginia Department of Transportation construction contractor.
Thursday night, several agents wearing FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force jackets, were seen executing a warrant at a house on the 4000 block of 17th Street North in the Arlington neighborhood of Cherrydale. One was wearing a jacket that read "FBI Bomb Tech" jacket. Arlington County Police and the Arlington County bomb squad were also on the scene.
