UPDATE: The two suspects arrested in the shooting of a pair of NYPD officers have been identified as 24-year-old Jason Polanco and 28-year-old Joshua Kemp.
ABC New York reports that Polanco is accused of being the gunman who shot two police officers and also allegedly carjacked a vehicle in an effort to evade capture.
Polanco faces charges of attempted murder, carjacking and robbery. Kemp faces charges related to the robbery as of now, ABC New York reports.
Kemp has 10 prior arrests and the two may have been involved in other robberies, the station says.
PIX11 reports that one of the weapons used by the suspected shooter was a .44 Magnum, "a large caliber weapon," according to the station.
The officers may not have been wearing bullet proof vests, according to PIX11, because they were just coming off duty when they responded to a call about a robbery at a grocery store in the Bronx.
The two officers, identified as Andrew Dossi, 30, and Aliro Pellerano, 38, are in stable condition and expected to survive.

Two suspects have been arrested in the shooting of a pair of NYPD police officers on Monday night in the Bronx.
CBS New York reports that two people are in custody in connection with the shooting, which took place after three plain clothes officers responded to a robbery call at a grocery store.
The other suspect was arrested in Manhattan after police said he went to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound he suffered during the robbery Monday night.
The identities of the suspects have not been officially confirmed.
The New York Daily News identified the officers as Andrew Dossi, 30, and Aliro Pellerano, 38.
Neither of the suspects have been charged.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said both officers are expected to recover.
"They went above and beyond the call to protect their fellow New Yorkers," de Blasio told reporters. "Thank God the officers are doing well and will recover."
