The hi-pitched sound of singing Cicadas have arrived in NYC signaling the approach of autumn. As the hazy, lazy days of summer recede we look forward to the cool crisp days of our new season...
Being a bit of a bookworm during my healing "stay-cation" I have immersed myself in the graceful writing of Jay McInerney's latest novel, "Bright Precious Days"-
The third book in a trilogy that began in 1992 with "Darkness Falls".

McInerney is not only a gifted writer whose words have a fluidity that beckons us to turn the page, but a keen observer of humanity - with its fun and foibles...

During my stay-cation I discovered a wonderful new Restaurant - Blenheim. Located on a special corner where 12th street meets 4th, as only in the West Village - the Restaurant offers a perfect place for people watching beneath lovely outdoor umbrella tables.
As a foodie I was first wowed by Blenheim's Eggs Benedict, one of the dishes I regularly order for comparison- at New Yorkers favorite meal, Brunch.
I soon realized that the Restaurant is an authentic "Farm to Table" eatery; At the 300 acre farm in upstate New York. Chef/ Owner and Farmer, Norwegian-born Morten Sohlberg, along with his wife Min Ye raise their own eggs, ham, 14 herbs, vegetables and greens.
Fresh is an understatement!
As the summer progressed I regularly brought different friends and associates to share the Blenheim experience, All in agreement - this chef deserves four-stars- his special culinary creations subtle and delectable.

With attention paid to every detail, Norwegian-born Chef Sohlberg shows an antique brass wine bottle opener dating back to the 18th century
To quote Sohlberg, "Every bite has to be its own journey with differing tastes and textures"
