Ashleigh Davis Says Police Cracked Her Teeth, Hogtied Her, Paraded Her Around Topless: Lawsuit

Woman Says Cops Cracked Her Teeth, Hogtied Her, Carried Her Around Topless

A Florida woman has unleashed a string of blistering accusations in a lawsuit filed this week against two law enforcement agencies.

Ashleigh Davis claims she had her hands and feet bound together while she was carried through a crowd topless by police at the Leesburg Bikefest in April 2011, according to WESH. She had been arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

The lawsuit also claims that, while Davis was still restrained, officers put her in a holding cell half-naked while a handful of officers laughed at her and made no attempt to cover her up.

When one officer tried to cover her mouth to keep her from screaming, Davis bit him, after which he slammed her face into the cell's floor, chipping several of her teeth, the suit alleges.

"I just remember him grabbing me from behind, my hair, and going like this (covers mouth) and then I try to bite, and then they grabbed me by the back of my head and slammed my face down," Davis told WFTV.

Spokespeople for the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Leesburg Police Department did not immediately return calls for comment from The Huffington Post. But Capt. Rob Hicks of the Leesburg PD told the Daily Commercial that Davis' version of events is suspect.

"She was so combative, it was difficult to cover her up," Hicks said.

He also said Davis was so intoxicated during the arrest, she might not be able to recall when her teeth were broken.

The Captain admitted his police department does not have any regulations about covering up half-naked suspects, but when Davis was offered a top, she turned it away.

Stan Plappert, Davis' attorney, said his client deserves better.

"You shouldn't treat women like this," Plappert said. "It's despicable."
