Bel-Air Mod Mansion By Assembledge+/Billy Rose At Reduced Price

PHOTOS: Bel-Air Mansion Price-Chopped To $13.9 Million

This 12,000 square-foot Bel-Air stunner has been relisted at $13,995,000, down from a previous asking price of $17,500,000. The 6-bedroom, 9-bath mansion, which was built in 1991, was remodeled in 2010 by the architecture firm Assembledge+. The group, headed by native Angeleno David Thompson, has won awards from the American Institute of Architects, the Los Angeles Times Home Section, American Lifestyle Magazine, Sunset Magazine, and the New York Times.

The house's developer and interior decorator, Billy Rose, also has quite the resumé, with clients such as Halle Berry, Diana Ross, and Beck. Rose and Assemledge+ teamed up to make this sprawling, two-floor home the product showcase house for the Avenues of Art and Design in collaboration with Luxe Magazine. Furthermore, as Realtor.com tells us, the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles featured the home on its March 27 spring home tour series, called "East and West of the 405."

The home's geometric brick façade is punctuated by large windows that open to canyon and city views. The house contains a gym, home theatre, three fireplaces, a walk-in wine room, as well as a guest apartment with separate access. Light wood floors, repurposed tree trunks, and texturized walls lend an organic feeling to the structure's clean lines and high ceilings. It's all situated on 1-1/2 acres within--according to the listing--an 11-house, architecturally diverse, guard-gated community. The grounds have an Olympic-sized infinity swimming pool, an outdoor fireplace, a spa, and an orchard. While we're not sure if the lowered price constitues a bargain, there certainly is a lot to admire here.
