Anthony Starego, Austistic Kicker For Brick High School, Drills Game-Winning Field Goal (VIDEO)

Today's feel-good sports story is brought to you by Anthony Starego, an autistic football player from New Jersey who lifted Brick Township to a 24-21 upset win over Toms River North on Friday night.

Starego, a high school senior, had only taken over as the team's kicker last week, per USA Today. As seen in the video above that was uploaded to Youtube, his game-winning, 22-yard field goal set off a celebration among his Green Dragons teammates.

“We have a new slogan the past two weeks –- 'nobody believes in us except us,'" Brick coach Rob Dahl told Asbury Park Press. “Our kicker, he’s a wonderful kid. He lifts the spirit of our team."

As MaxPreps points out, the fact that Brick's opponent is fighting for a playoff spot makes Starego's feat all the more remarkable. Toms River North dropped to a four-way tie for second place in the South Shore A Conference.

That Starego's inspirational field goal came against a powerhouse team in a close game evokes memories of Tristan Braverman, the autistic basketball player who hit the game-winning shot during overtime of a high school playoff game in New York.
