Even though the series run of "Awake" (Thu., 10 p.m. ET on NBC) was cut short -- far too soon for many fans -- there are still plenty of questions that remain. That said, as mentioned by CliqueClack, the series did a great job of giving closure in a finale they couldn't have known would be their last one ever.
Det. Britten brought to a close his investigation into the accident that took his wife and/or son away from him, and it took his two worlds coming together for him to finally get everything done. In the end, it looked like the red world -- which was where the more fanciful elements lived all season -- was the world of his dreams. Or was it?
In the end, when he spoke of wanting to dream a new world that could turn back the clock to when both his wife and son were alive, his green world therapy session quite literally froze. A door opened to his bedroom, which proved to be a new reality altogether. One in which both his wife and son were both alive and well. But is this reality, or did Britten choose another dream over a real world without his wife? Viewers will never know for sure.
