'Awkward': Jenna Makes Amends, But It May Be Too Late For Valerie

After a lengthy turn toward the dark side, Jenna was well on her way to mending fences and trying to fix her relationships on "Awkward." This week, she realized that while she couldn't go back to "old Jenna," she could make a new Jenna that had learned from her past mistakes and knew how to be a good friend.

Of course, it wasn't going to be perfect. She blew it as a designated driver, forcing her friends to stay the night after Matty's party. So she woke up the next morning, cleaned up the party mess and made muffins for the gang. "“I’m sorry. I am so, so sorry. I’ve been a really bad friend. I really missed you guys.”

Matty seemed pleased to have Jenna back in his life, which sat well with 71% of the show's fans -- at least according to an MTV.com poll. CarterMatt agreed it was nice to see that Matty still had feelings for Jenna, "but what was also important for this show was seeing Jenna realize that her turnaround was not without bumps in the road. She can’t just wipe away her past like she did the trash at Matty’s party."

The biggest mess she still needs to deal with is Valerie. "Bad Jenna" wrote a scathing essay about her loopy guidance counselor that led to Valerie getting suspended. At the close of this week's episode, Valerie returned Jenna's call to tell her she'd been fired.

"Awkward" airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. EST on MTV.
