When Cher Horowitz was held up at gunpoint in "Clueless" and asked to lay on the ground, she cried out, "But it's an Alaia!" She's not the only one who believes the Tunisian-born designer's masterful creations are worth preserving. Over the past 15 years, Azzedine Alaia's work has continuously been on display around the world. The first retrospective of his work debuted in 1997 at The Groninger Museum in the Netherlands and it subsequently traveled to New York. Now the exhibit is back in its home country with a new focus on his designs from the past decade.

The exhibition "Azzedine Alaïa in the 21st century" was curated by Mark Wilson and will be on display at the Groninger until May 6, 2012. Museum hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 5:00.
