Cuteness Overload! Orphaned Baby Black Bear Rescued

Cue the awws!

Police in Myrtle Creek, Ore., said this week that a teenager rescued a baby black bear after finding the tiny animal all alone and "whimpering in the bushes outside his house," The Associated Press reported.

The teen and his parents reportedly dropped off the 12-pound female cub at the police station on Monday. The baby bear, described as being "very well behaved" and in good health, is currently receiving a checkup at the University of Oregon.

Though authorities have praised the teen for rescuing the orphaned cub, they've warned others to use more caution when approaching wild animals, CBS News reported.

"The best thing to do is to leave the area, call authorities and let professionals handle the situation," the police told CBS.
